Developed in men around the sixth decade, Prostate Cancer is diagnosed in 1 of 7 men. Though it is one of the cancers that develops gradually, it can spread to other organs if unattended to, for a longer time. A few studies show that Prostate Cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths among American men. The risk of this cancer and its effects are directly proportional to age and mostly occur in older men.
Prostate Cancer is caused when cancerous cells amass and form a tumor in or around the prostate gland. Though they start to grow at a slow pace, they might proceed to multiply excessively and aggressively within a period of time. Not extremely easy to determine the exact cause, it could be because of genetics or exposure to various environmental factors such as radiation, etc.
The various risk factors of developing Prostate Cancer include
Family History – The risk of developing a Prostrate Cancer increases excessively if the family line has a history of the same. The risk of the cancer developing in the body is at its maximum in such cases. Several inherited genetic mutations could possibly be the reason for the same.
Age – This is one of the most dangerous causes that contribute to the cancer development. Research shows that the most affected are men around the age of 65. So being extra careful and following necessary precautions whilst maintaining a diet could help from falling bait to Prostate Cancer.
Diet/Obesity – Food with high-fat content or excess dairy products besides a meat-rich diet are direct contributors to Prostate Cancer. High meat content and a deficit of fruits and vegetables in everyday diet could directly increase the risk.
Calcium consumption – High consumption of dairy indirectly leads to high levels of calcium intake that is said to be one of the contributors to cancers. However, a direct link between the two is yet to be established for one to have a clearer picture of the safe and consumable level of calcium.
Be mindful of all the risk factors and stay healthy, ward off any cancers.
